The Gatehouse

The gatehouse is of brick construction and comprises of a main hall, kitchen and an upstairs leaders room. The building was built as the main gate entrance to Willesley Hall's courtyard.
It has hot water via a free immersion heater and heating is by gas central heataing (additional charge), There is a fireplace for open fires in the main hall. Tables and chairs are provided.
The kitchen is spacious and has two cookers, fridge freezer, sink and work surfaces. Cooking and catering equipment can be hired.



The leaders' room will sleep four people on bunk beds though there is space for further persons on the floor. Beds are provided with mattresses.
The main hall is approx 5metres by 8 metres. Tables and chairs are provided.

The kitchen

The cabin is of brick construction and comprises of a main hall, kitchen and leaders' room.
It has hot water via a free immersion heater .The building is heated by gas central heating ( additional charge ).
The kitchen has two cookers, fridge, freezer, sink and work surfaces. Cooking and catering equipment is available to hire.

The Cabin

The leaders room will sleep four persons on bunk beds. Beds are provided with mattresses.
The main hall is approx 7 metres by 11 metres. 10 camp beds are available to sleep on if required.

The Shooting Range

This purpose built indoor 10 metre shooting range accommodates 3 shooters at any one time. It has a waiting area and is available for hire with campsite or your own instructors.Written parental consent must be produced before individuals under 18 can take part in shooting. This is a scout association regulation. Only 0.177 air rifles can be used.

 

Pioneering

A selection of pioneering poles are available free of charge. It is advised you bring your own ropes. No pulleys are available.

Orienteering

orienteeringThe site has a 40 marker orienteering course. Use of the course is free.
You can use preset courses that are designed for all age groups, or you "can have the answers" to design your own to fit in with the theme of your camp.

The Climbing Tower

The site has a 15 metre climbing and abseil tower. Climbing is carried out on one side of the tower to a height of 10 metres whilst abseiling can be undertaken from half of the full height or 15 metres. Campsite instructors can be requested or campers with proof of appropriate authorisation may run this activity.

Pedal Karting

The campsite has four pedal karts available for hire for use around our purpose built karting track. Any competant leader can run this activity after reading the risk assesment. The karts are adjustable so are suitable for all ages.

Potholing Course

The Willesley potholing course is an underground maze designed for first time cavers. It is ideal for those who are going underground for the first time. The lighting level can be varied to suit individuals. Any competant leader can run this activity after reading the risk assessment. It is advisable old clothes are worn and torches are recommended as it can be wet and dark.

The Willesley bouldering wall is a portable box cube with climbing holds secured to the inside. Any competant leader may run this activity after reading the risk assessment.

Archery

Archery

Archery is available on site on the lakeside camping area. Only campsite instructors can run this activity with campsite equipment. We have a full range of size of bows to suit all age groups. Campers are welcome to bring there own equipment and run the activity themselves (instructors will need to show the warden their competance certificate).

Spider Frame

Spider Frame

The spider frame is web of bungee cord that you have to try and manouvre yourself through. Will you get to the other end or just tie yourself up in knots? Any competent leader can run this activity after reading the risk assessment.

Crate Stacking

The crate stacking activity is run from The Dell; near the climbing tower. The record is 33 single crates. can you beat it? Instructors must hold a climbing M form authorisation and have read the risk assessment.

Water Activities

Subject to demand and instructor availability, canoeing, kayaking and katakanu sessions are available. These sessions could be run by campsite instructors or leaders with the relevant authorisation. Sessions are based at the Moira furnace; 3 miles from the campsite. Campers will need to provide their own transport. There are limilted changing facilities at Moira.

Cooking and catering equipment

Subject to availability by booking, the campsite has catering and cooking equipment available for hire by members of the Scout and Guide assoiastions and for use in the builds only. The Equipment is sufficient to cook and cater for 40 persons.

Church

Willesley campsite has its own church.a grade 2 listed building. This is available for Scouts' own or appopriate indoor activities.

Toilets and Showers

The camper toilet block is located near the centre of all the camping areas. The facilities include free showers etc 

Outside the block are additional sinks for washing cutlery and crockery. There is also an elson point near by.

The court yard toilet block is locacted near the Cabin and Gatehouse. Free power showers are available, this building includes disabled persons facilities.

There is a seperate disabled toilet facility next door to the shooting range.

Water taps

There are 5 outside water taps conveniently located around the site to fill water containers.

The site has its own shop where you can purchase sweets and souvenirs during your visit. Opening times vary and are agreed with the warden on your arrival
